The Lemosho Route is a scenic western approach with rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and glacier zones. This version without the extra acclimatization day is slightly faster but still allows gradual ascent with enough time for summit preparation.
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours | Habitat: Rainforest
Gentle trek through lush forest. Short day to allow initial acclimatization.
Overnight: Big Tree Camp
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours | Habitat: Moorland
Ascend gradually to open moorland, reach Shira 1 Camp.
Overnight: Shira 1 Camp
Hiking Time: 3–5 hours | Habitat: Moorland / Alpine Desert
Cross the Shira Plateau toward Shira 2 Camp with panoramic views of Kibo and Mawenzi.
Overnight: Shira 2 Cam
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Descend slightly and trek across the plateau toward Barranco Camp.
Overnight: Barranco Camp
Highlights:

Climb the Barranco Wall, then traverse Karanga Valley to Karanga Camp.
Overnight: Karanga Camp
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Final steep ascent to Barafu Camp, base for summit attempt.
Overnight: Barafu Camp
Hiking Time: 12–15 hours | Habitat: Arctic → Rainforest
Midnight summit attempt to Stella Point and Uhuru Peak. Descend via Barafu to Mweka Camp.
Overnight: Mweka Camp
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours | Habitat: Rainforest
Final descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Collect summit certificates and transfer back to Moshi.
