The Rongai Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the northern side, near the Kenyan border. It is one of the quietest routes and is known for its gradual ascent, making it ideal for trekkers looking for high summit success with fewer crowds.
The 7-day itinerary includes an acclimatization day at Mawenzi Tarn, greatly improving safety and success.

A scenic climb to one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful camps beneath Mawenzi Peak.

Cross “The Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo. Long, dry, and open landscape.
Arrive early at Kibo Hut to rest for the summit push.

Elevation: 4,703m to 5,895m (Uhuru) → down to 3,720m
Distance: 22 km | 12–15 hrs
Start at midnight for the steep climb to Gilman’s Point, then follow the crater rim to Uhuru Peak.
After photos, descend to Kibo for a short break then continue down to Horombo Hut.
Overnight: Horombo Hut.
Elevation: 3,720m to 1,870m
Distance: 20 km | 5–7 hrs
Descend through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive certificates and return to Moshi.
