About this tour

The Umbwe Route is the steepest and most direct approach to Kilimanjaro from the northern side. It passes through dense rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert, joining the Machame Route at Barranco Camp.
This 6-day version is shorter, faster, and requires trekkers to be well-acclimatized and fit.

Itinerary

Hiking Time: 5–6 hours

Start with a steep, adventurous climb through dense forest and narrow ridges. Minimal traffic makes the trek peaceful.
Overnight: Umbwe Cave Camp

Start the summit attempt around midnight. Reach Stella Point, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak. After taking photos, descend to Barafu for a short break and continue to Mweka Camp.
